MikeyB's Movie Night: October Horror Movie Marathon Final Week Oct 26th-31st

Another October has come and gone and its time for my final round up of the horror films I watched in the past week. Upon returning from out of state I found myself with a wonderful case of the head flu and as you can surmise because of this I did not watch anywhere near as many movies that I would have liked. So without further excuses lets dive right in!

Movie #19: Rifftrax Live: Carnival of Souls (2016, 1962)
Director: Herk Harvey
Starring: Candace Hilligross, Frances Feist, Sidney Berger
"Riffers": Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy, Bill Corbett

"Rifftrax" is made up of the former cast of "Mystery Science Theater 3000" and what they do is the same thing, only live. Thankfully the good folks at "Fathom Events" stream the shows into theaters allowing the common folk such as my self to enjoy it as well.

Movie #20: The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)
Director: Herny Selick
Starring: Danny Elfman, Chris Sarandon, Catherine O'Hara

When I saw that Disney was taking advantage of my favorite holiday to re-release Tim Burton and Henry Selick's stop motion masterpiece in theaters I of course jumped at the chance to see it on the big screen again.

Movie #21: Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007)
Director: Tim Burton
Starring: Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Alan Rickman

One of my favorite musicals of all time and it just so happens to be in the horror genre. What a strange coincidence....

Movie #22: Troll Hunter (2010)
Director: Andre Ovredal
Starring: Otto Jespersen, Robert Stoltenberg, Knut Naerum

Apparently I decided to heed my own advice and chosse this flick as my final movie of the marathon.

Well folks I guess thats all she wrote. I have to say that I didn't hit my usual target of 31 films in 31 days, but the movies I did watch this year were almost all quality, which was good because in previous years I experienced what like like to call a "bad movie burn out". Next week you can look forward to a write up of my time spent at the "Vancouver International Film Festival". After that we will be back to business as usual. So as always thank you for reading and I'll see you next time!

  1. Well sometimes I mused about my thoughts. Other times I thought about my musings.
