MikeyB's Monthly Movie Roundup: July (2018)

July has come and gone so it is time once again for one of my patented "Monthly Movie Roundups". If you're new to the process it entails me giving a quick summery and opinion on each film I saw during the past month. So with formalities out of the way lets get this underway and dive right in!

Released: July 6 2018
Director: Peyton Reed
Starring: Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas

Plot: Under house arrest for his involvement in the events of Captain America: Civil War (2016), Scott Lang aka "Ant-Man" must now juggle being a father, starting a new business, and having to help out the Pym family again.

Opinion: I enjoyed this sequel even more then the original and just like that film it is full of laughs, imaginative action, and some of the kindest, heartfelt, and lovable characters of the MCU this side of Steve Rogers.

Released: July 20 2018
Director: Antoine Fuqua
Starring: Denzel Washington, Pedro Pascal, Ashton Sanders

Plot: Robert McCall is back again using his very special set of skills to help those around him and to avenge the murder of one of his closest friends.

Opinion: Another week, another sequel, but sadly this one is just not as good. Lacking the style, pacing, and character development of the first film, this follow up is one of the bigger disappointments I've had at the movies this year. I love the first movie and was really excited to see Denzel's first ever sequel but it sadly just can't live up to original.

Released: July 27 2018
Director: Christopher McQuarrie
Starring: Tom Cruise, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Henry Cavill, Rebecca Ferguson

Plot: The IMF is back at it again. This time they're tracking down some stolen plutonium that "The Syndicate" plans on using to create nuclear weapons.

Opinion: I've said it before and I'll say it again but this series just keeps getting better and better. Fallout is utterly captivating and exhilarating from start to finish and is one of best films this year let alone of the series. I previously did a full write up of the series up to this point and I've updated it to include a ranking of the films. Click here to check it out.

Well that concludes my "Roundup" of the new releases I saw this past July. Did you see anything I didn't? Differing opinion then me? Please feel free to let me know in the comments below, and as always thank you for reading and I'll see you next time!
