MikeyB's Monthly Movie Roundup: July (2017)

July has ended so that means its time for another edition of my Monthly Movie Roundup! After a slow month in June I decided to up my game and managed to make it to the theater four times last month, and I'm happy report there wasn't a bad movie in the bunch. So lets get this Roundup started and dive right in!

Released: July 7 2017
Director: Jon Watts
Starring: Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Robert Downey Jr.

I have never been a big fan of Spider-Man but I am amazed to report that I came away from "Homecoming" absolutely loving it. Tom Holland is the best Peter Parker ever put to film and Michael Keaton as the Vulture is the one of the best villains in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Released: July 14 2017
Director: Matt Reeves
Starring: Andy Serkis, Woody Harrelson, Steve Zahn

I've been a huge fan of the Planet of the Apes series since I was a kid and this newest entry is one of the best. If you would like to read my full review click right here.

Released: July 21 2017
Director: Christopher Nolan
Starring: Finn Whitehead, Mark Rylance, Tom Hardy

I believe Christopher Nolan is one of the best directors to come along in the last twenty years and I think Dunkirk only furthers that opinion. It is one of the most intense and relentless war films ever made, and I highly recommend seeing this in an IMAX theater if you have the opportunity. One of the absolute best films of the year.

Released: July 28 2017
Director: David Leitch
Starring: Charlize Theron, James McAvoy, John Goodman

A strange mixture of John Wick and Tinker Tailer Soldier Spy, that while uneven, works more often then not. Theron is more then capable of handling a lead action role, as she previously showed in my favorite film of 2015: Mad Max: Fury Road.

Well that concludes my "Roundup" of the new releases I saw this past July. Did you see anything I didn't? Differing opinion then me? Please feel free to let me know in the comments below, and as always thank you for reading and I'll see you next time!
