MikeyB's Monthly Movie Roundup: June (2017)

After taking last week off for travel and the 4th of July holiday I am back with another edition of my "Monthly Movie Roundup". Due to various factors I only found myself seeing two of the many new films released in June, but I will still be giving you my brief opinion on them. Both of the new releases I saw, I enjoyed very much, so this should be fun. So without even further delay lets dive right in!

Released: June 2 2017
Director: Patty Jenkins
Starring: Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Robin Wright

Warner Brothers' latest entry into the "DC Extended Universe" has finally seemed to crack the code. After the mixed receptions for Man of Steel, Batman v Superman, and Suicide Squad, they've managed to deliver a film that not only is it a hit with audiences, but critics are loving it as well. I have to say that even though I've at least enjoyed my time with the previous three entries, I loved every minute of Wonder Woman. Gal Gadot give's a performance so perfect and full of charisma that the most apt comparison I have is Robert Downey Jr.'s as Tony Stark. It is simply a role she was born for and after seeing the film you won't ever be able to picture anyone else in it. This one will go down as not only one of the best films of this summer, but one of the best films of the year.

Released: June 30 2017
Director: Jeff Baena
Starring: Alison Brie, Dave Franco, Aubrey Plaza

Raunchy, outrageous, absurd, and wildly entertaining. This indie comedy about nuns in the middle ages gone crazy was a huge surprise for me. Sure it has all the staple's of the standard R rated comedy that is made these days, but it also brings something new to the table with a unique and original premise and, refreshingly, a whole lot of heart.

Well that concludes up my "Roundup" of the new releases I saw this past June. Did you see anything I didn't? Differing opinion then me? Please feel free to let me know in the comments below, and as always thank you for reading and I'll see you next time!
