After not seeing enough films in April to warrant a "Roundup" for the month I banged out the first installment of "The Song Paints a Picture" which I rather enjoyed. I look forward to posting the second installment in two weeks. Today though I am happy to report we are back to it for the new releases I saw in May. While I only saw three of the new films released, I found myself immensely enjoying all of them. Though one of them may have been down to the venue I saw it in. (More on that later.) So without further ado lets dive right in!
Released: May 5 2017
Director: James Gunn
Starring: Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel
The highly anticipated sequel to 2014's smash hit Guardians of the Galaxy finally was released and lived up to every expectation I had for it. The story this time around concerns Peter Quill's (Chris Pratt) parentage and gives even more insight into not just him, but the whole "Guardians" crew. I found myself liking this sequel even more then the original and can't wait for Vol. 3!
Released: May 12 2017
Director: Guy Ritchie
Starring: Charlie Hunnam, Astrid Berges-Frisbey, Jude Law
Now I've already written a full review of this movie but I have to at least take the time here to say I still absolutely loved it. This film was seriously was the most entertaining time I've had at the movies so far this year. I can honestly see this one getting a cult following in years to come.
Released: May 26 2017
Director: Joachim Ronning, Espen Sandberg
Starring; Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush, Javier Bardem
I found this fifth film in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise is to be a whole lot of fun. Depp still completely owns the role of Jack Sparrow, Javier Bardem is always going to turn in amazing villain performance, and the action choreography is once again fun and inventive. Is it perfect? Far from it, but its still a very entertaining way to spend two hours. Especially if you are fan of the series.
Well that wraps it up for May's Monthly Movie Round up! Did you see anything I didn't? Differing opinion then me? Please let me know in the comments below, and as always thank you for reading and I'll see you next time!
